Tyre Care
Looking after your tyres
There are many simple ways you can help to keep your tyres in good condition and keep your Mercedes-Benz running smoothly.
Damage
Check for cuts, cracks, tread wear, bumps or bulges regularly. If you find any damage, arrange to have the tyre(s) replaced as soon as possible. Your local Mercedes-Benz Official Workshop can assist you in finding the most suitable tyres for your car.
Tyre pressures
Always check the pressure in your tyres. If you think one or more might be low, check it as soon as possible because it can have an effect your car’s braking, road grip and tyre life. Remember that recommended pressures vary according to load or speed so check your Mercedes-Benz handbook for guidance.
Tyre tread
The minimum legal depth for tyre tread for cars in the UK and EU is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tyre tread width, although we, at Mercedes-Benz recommend that they be maintained at 3mm.
Replacing tyres
When you need to replace a tyre, it’s best to change all four at the same time. This isn’t always a practical or affordable option, so try and replace the two front tyres or the two rear tyres as a pair as replacing just one can seriously affect your car's handling. If you require any advice on this matter, your local Mercedes-Benz Official Workshop will be happy to help.
Wheel balancing
Make sure the installer balances the wheels when you have new tyres fitted. This improves riding comfort and tyre life.
