Air conditioning service from £39.99

Stay Cool This Summer.

Keep your air conditioning in tip top condition.

Many of today’s cars are fitted with air conditioning and climate control, providing the passenger with comfort in hotter than normal temperatures. Like most mechanical devices, air conditioning systems need attention in order to maintain and maximise their efficiency, as over time the gas will evaporate, reducing the system’s effectiveness.

Manufacturers recommend that regular air conditioning services are carried out to guarantee optimum perormance.

Our Air Conditioning service is an affordable way to maintain your system and ensure a pleasant driving experience.

Due to lack of use, particularly during the winter months, condensation can build up in your air conditioning system which in turn could become a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi.

During the busy summer months, unhealthy and unpleasant smells can be vented into the passenger cabin.

Our Air Conditioning Refresh eliminates the bacteria and neutralises the odours ensuring a cleaner and safer driving environment.

The Importance of Tyres

Tyres are the only part of the vehicle which are in contact with the road. Safety in acceleration, braking, steering and cornering all depend on a relatively small area of road contact. It is therefore of paramount importance that tyres are well maintained and that their tyre tread depth is above the legal limit to maximise performance and safety. By law, car tyres must have a minimum of 1.6mm of tread in a continuous band throughout the central three-quarters of the tread width and round the entire circumference of the tyre. The driver of the vehicle is responsible for making sure their tyres are legal and in a roadworthy condition. The penalty for driving with an illegal tyre is a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points per tyre. This could cost your licence, or worse still a life.

Complimentary tyre and brake check at any time

At Inchcape Mercedes-Benz, we will always be committed to achieving the highest standards of safety and driver enjoyment. Our tyre programme is a perfect example of this. As a car's only direct contact with the road, affecting performance, road holding and braking, the choice of tyres is of critical importance.

The Inchcape Mercedes-Benz Safety Campaign offers a competitive one-stop service. We will check your tyres and brakes at no cost to you and perfom a complimentary health check while you wait when ever you wish. If your vehicle requires new tyres we cans provide the most advanced technology, both in terms of tyre choice and fitment. We can recommend a number of tyres and our service centre offers the latest tyre fitment and balancing equipment to ensure that all tyres are fitted to the highest standards.

Choosing the correct tyres will make a vital difference to your car's performance, optimising handling, braking and cornering.

If you would like to have your tyres checked, contact us now.

Further Advice

The Importance of Tyre Tread

When driving in wet weather, the tread pattern of a tyre helps to evacuate water from the contact patch with the road. As the tread wears down, the tyre gradually loses the ability to remove all of the water from the road surface, resulting in longer stopping distances and an increased risk of aquaplaning. Tyres worn below the legal limit are a contributory factor in many road collisions, particularly in the wet. Therefore, driving on tyres with sufficient tread depth is fundamental to braking safely and it is advisable that tyres are replaced before they reach the legal minimum.

OTHER THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR WHEN CHECKING YOUR TYRE TREAD

Uneven Wear – If your tyre tread is badly worn in some parts but not in others, it could mean that your tyre pressure is too high or too low, and can be a factor of worn suspension components as well. Tracking Problems – Excessive wear around the inside or outside edges of your front tyres could mean your front suspension has been knocked out of line through hitting a deep pothole or banging against a kerb. Ask your local retailer to check your car’s tracking; if it is out of alignment, getting it fixed will reduce the abnormal tyre wear and make your car feel much better to drive.

Inspection and Maintenance

Examine your tyres regularly, removing stones and other objects embedded in the tread. If the tyre has lumps or bulges it must be examined by a tyre specialist as these could indicate internal damage. Wipe away oil or grease with a suitable diluted detergent. Correct tyre pressures are essential for safety and tyre longevity. Check tyre pressures monthly and before any long trip, not forgetting the spare. Regularly check your tread depth. Ensure your tyres meet the legal requirements of a minimum 1.6mm of tread in a continuous band throughout the central three-quarters of the tread width and round the entire circumference of the tyre. To help warn drivers that their tyres have worn to the legal minimum, tread wear indicators are moulded into the base of their main grooves. When the tread wears to be level with these indicators, the tyres only have 1.6mm of remaining tread depth and should be changed immediately.

Keep your tyres in tip-top shape

To keep your tyres in good condition, check them at least once a month (preferably every two weeks), or before a long journey. You should pay particular attention to your tyres’ tread and pressure.

Note: Mercedes-Benz recommend that tyres have a tread depth of at least 3mm across the tyre and around the circumference. What you should know about tyre pressure Under-inflated tyres can overheat while over-inflated tyres can result in poor handling on the road, putting you and your passengers in danger. But ignoring your tyre pressure is also financially costly. Over- and under-inflated tyres are more at risk of damage and may need to be replaced more often. Cars with under-inflated tyres also need more fuel to maintain the same speed. Looking after your tyres will also increase their ‘legal life’. Treads will not wear down as quickly, maintaining your tyres for longer. Keeping your tyres road worthy also helps you avoid a possible maximum penalty fine of £10,000 and 12 penalty points on your driving licence.

Should you rotate your tyres?

No. Most manufacturers advise against this now because:

  • Partly worn tyres are more likely to puncture, especially in wet-weather conditions.
  • Front tyre deflation is more likely. This creates an under-steer effect and may compromise your safety.

If you have to replace one tyre, then have it fitted at the rear with the tyre having the most tread depth. This will help you handle your car and give it more stability, whether or not your car is front-or rear-wheel drive.

Don’t forget your spare tyre

It’s easy to forget about your spare, but an emergency is not the time to discover that it’s under-inflated or lacking in tread depth. Make sure your spare is up to standard now. Also, know where your car jack is and how to use it.

Tyre checklist

Your tyres will last longer if properly maintained. A quick inspection takes only a few minutes, but can help to prevent expensive damage and unnecessary wear. We recommend you follow the checklist below:

  1. Check your tyres for damage: look out for any cuts, cracks or bulges, as these can lead to slow punctures and blowouts.
  2. Check the correct pressures against the manufacturer's recommendations as given in your vehicle handbook.
  3. Adjust pressures as necessary.
  4. Clean dirt from valves and fit valve caps all round.
  5. Remove stones and other foreign objects from treads.
  6. Have the steering alignment corrected if front tyres show signs of excessive or uneven wear.
  7. Examine brakes if tyres show signs of wear through wheel locking.
  8. Have front wheels and tyres re-balanced if there are signs of vibration, wheel wobble or patchy tyre wear.

Tracker Stolen Vehicle Recovery

TRACKER Monitor operates using Tracker’s proven Very High Frequency (VHF) technology. In the event of theft where the vehicle is moved without the ignition being turned on, the motion sensor will alert TRACKER who will in turn notify you.

On confirmation of the theft and receipt of your crime reference number, TRACKER will activate the unit, which will emit a silent signal allowing the police to track the vehicle to its exact location.

In addition to the stress of having your Mercedes-Benz stolen in the first place, the last thing you want to hear is that your car is 100 miles away in an undesirable area. That’s why the TRACKER team offer a Guard and Recover service as standard on all systems. TRACKER will send a uniformed security guard to wait with your vehicle after the police recovery and ensure it is safely returned to you.

How TRACKER Works

TRACKER's Very High Frequency (VHF) stolen vehicle recovery systems work like an electronic homing device. A covert transmitter is hidden discretely in one of several dozen places around your vehicle. There is no visible aerial or other identifying feature so the thief can't see it and won't know it's there. Unlike our competitors we have our own, purpose-built, radio network dedicated to getting your vehicle back -fast!

Unlike GPS and GSM based systems, VHF can still recover your vehicle even if it is in an underground car park, a shipping container or transported in a covered trailer. As soon as the active unit is within range of a TRACKER equipped Police Vehicle it will be identified through a unique code known only to TRACKER and the Police.

Monitor can generate an alert if your vehicle is moved without your knowledge - we then contact you to ensure your vehicle is secure. From then on there are four simple steps to getting your vehicle back:

  • Stage 1: Vehicle owner contacts TRACKER HQ and the police to inform that their vehicle has been stolen.

  • Stage 2: TRACKER HQ activates the unit hidden in the stolen vehicle via our VHF transmitter network. The vehicle is now emitting a silent land based radio signal.

  • Stage 3: The silent signal can now be picked up by any of the UK's 52 police forces that are within the vicinity of the stolen vehicle. The signal will direct the police to the exact location of the stolen vehicle.

  • Stage 4. On customer request, a uniformed guard waits with your vehicle until it is recovered to a destination of your choice - anywhere in mainland Britain. This service applies only to stolen vehicles located within mainland Great Britain. We can also arrange to repatriate your vehicle from anywhere in Europe.
