Mercedes’ C-Class has always offered a breadth of talent and the new Coupe ensures that continues.
The effect of going for a two-door shell is immediately apparent, giving the C-Class Coupe a beautiful slanting rear. But it's on the inside where you’ll find the most pleasant surprises. Although headroom is less than in the saloon there is plenty of room for two adults, making it a true four-seater. Add to that a 450-litre boot and you have a really impressive family car
Standard options under the bonnet are two 2-litre petrols (C200 and C300) and two 2.2 litre diesels (C220 and C250). The economy-conscious Mercedes buyer will be impressed with the diesel's figures, with as little as 106g/km CO2 and up to 68.9mpg combined depending on your specification and wheel size.
Even from the entry-level car, the £30,995 C200 Sport, you'll get all of the gadgets you'd expect from a premium coupe. Electronics such as Attention Assist, Active Bonnet, Highbeam Assist, Blind Sport Assist, and Speed limit Assist - to name but a few - are all part of the generous specification Mercedes offers.
Speed fiends will be most interested in an AMG version and the C-Class Coupe has indeed received the AMG treatment. With a 4-litre biturbo V8, the £61,000 C63 AMG bellows out 476hp - 510hp in C63 S form - allowing a 0-60mph sprint of under 4 seconds - but then no C-Class Coupe can be considered slow. The 170hp C220d and 184hp C200 will both take less than 8 seconds to reach the 60mph benchmark and stroll on to nearly 150mph.
The C-Class Coupe will be available in Sport and AMG Line specifications, with the latter adding sportier details, an AMG styling package and perforated brake discs. Integral sports seats and AMG branded floor mats give a visual flourish on the inside too.
Deliveries will commence in December 2015, with those first to the C63 AMG party able to purchase a limited edition C63 S Edition 1 model at £76,900 before options.
