The latest models from the Mercedes-AMG garage, the GT R and GT Roadster will be out on the road from the start of 2017, and both look to take the AMG GT range to new heights.
The GT R is the meanest of the GT range, thanks to an upgraded four-litre bi-turbo V8 engine that now produces 585bhp and takes the car from 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds. The R has an impressive top speed of 198mph. Despite having a large engine, it offers up impressive economy figures for a high performance sports car and can return 24.8mpg. Fitted with a great range of premium features, such as AMG sports bucket seats, Parktronic parking assist system, sports tyres and AMG performance steering wheel, it is also a great place to enjoy the superb performance of the souped-up sports coupe.
To add extra comfort and performance features to the model, Mercedes-AMG offer packages, such as the Track Package for £1,685 – which adds a four-point seat belt harness, fire extinguisher and roll cage – and carbon ceramic brakes priced at £5,995. The GT Roadster comes in two guises: the standard model and the more powerful GT C Roadster, which adds more AMG-oomph to the soft top beauty.
As the Roadster maintains the sporting ethos of the original AMG GT, the base model still has 476bhp to take to a top speed of 188mph and a 0-60mph time of 3.9 seconds. Its meaner C sibling has 81bhp more at 557bhp, meaning it can go from 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds and on to an exceptional 196mph top speed.
The GT C Roadster models come with AMG sports seats with Airscarf heating system, Burmester sound system and Parktronic with reversing camera, whilst the GT Roadster requires the Premium equipment line to be fitted in the same manner, which costs £4,195. The GT R has a starting price of £143,245, the GT Roadster is priced from £110,145, while the GT C Roadster starts from £139,445.
